Wes Batts (b. 1989) is an emerging contemporary artist based in Denver, Colorado. Graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Art Direction, his design work and paintings have quickly evolved into a full time practice.

His work depicts striking colors and typography deeply inspired by architectural forms and the human perception of language. He draws influence from archives of paintings, murals, and a wide range of digital designs.

Wes’s subjects are conceptualized through explorations of sketches and digital revisions, using every day life and real world surroundings to expand on the themes featured in his work. The final compositions are achieved by meticulously building layers of opaque, heavy bodied mediums, followed by an intuitive application of other techniques such as stenciling, screen printing and masking.
